An area football coach is suspended with pay following an alleged Wednesday night domestic disturbance in LaPorte County.
Bremen High School head football coach Bob Holmes is accused of throwing his girlfriend onto the floor of their bathroom multiple times. Her 17-year-old son reportedly knocked Holmes down and called police, according to our reporting partners at WNDU-TV.
Bremen Schools Superintendent Dr. James White said in a statement, “In light of the charges made against Mr. Holmes, I feel compelled to take this action. While Mr. Holmes should have every right to resolve the charges filed against him, I must insure the safety of our students and that they are being taught by teachers they can trust and respect.”
Holmes has coached six seasons at Bremen. During that time the Lions won five sectional titles and one regional championship. He previously coached at South Central and Michigan City.
