The Knox Police Department’s fleet now includes a 2015 Dodge Charger. Police Chief Clint Norem told the board of works last week it will be assigned to one of the detectives but is pursuit capable if necessary.
It is not equipped with decals or a light bar, but the car does have window and intersection side lights. The city saved $2,800 by not adding the full light package. The Charger replaces a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria with transmission problems.
The Board of Works authorized Norem to use money left over from the car acquisition to purchase a bulletproof vest that is due for replacement. Each vest costs between $500 and $600. Norem says he will get it ordered as soon as he gets the necessary measurements from the officer.
