Starke County’s new surveyor is seeking a full four-year term in that position. Democratic Party leaders recently chose Bill Crase, Jr. to replace Knox Mayor Dennis Estok. That term ends in December. Last week Crase filed the necessary paperwork with the Starke County Clerk’s Office to run for a full four-year term.
Incumbent Starke County Treasurer Kasey Clark has also filed the necessary paperwork to run for another term. She is also a Democrat. So far they are the only two declared candidates.
The county commissioner district 1 and 3 seats are also on this year’s ballot. Kathy Norem currently represents District 1, and Kent Danford is the District 3 commissioner. Candidates must live within the district but are voted on county wide. District 1 includes North Bend, Oregon and Washington Townships. District 3 is comprised of Jackson, Railroad and Wayne Townships. The three county council at-large seats are also on this year’s ballot. Candidates can live anywhere in the county and are voted on by the entire county.
Prospective candidates have until Friday, Feb. 5 to file. WKVI News will update the candidate list each Monday.
