Starke County Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Charlie Weaver will present his long-term vision for funds from the county economic development income tax to the county council when they meet this evening. In previous meetings Weaver has expressed a desire to invest in road improvements in the Knox Industrial Park to make it more attractive to businesses looking to relocate or expand. He’s also made mention of improvements in the Hamlet area.
The council will also consider a request to pay the salary for the jail warden/program director from the dedicated jail county economic development income tax fund instead of the county adjusted gross income tax certified shares. Their meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the annex meeting room.
The county commissioners will meet afterward. Their agenda includes approval of the Starke County Community Corrections grant for 2016-17, establishment of a county maternity policy as required by the State Board of Accounts and discussion by county attorney Marty Lucas of a nuisance ordinance.
