More details are expected today about the future of the former Medaryville library branch. The Pulaski County Public Library closed the branch on January 1, citing years of declining use and escalating costs.
Several local residents, educators, and elected officials had expressed their desire that the library remain open. While library officials stuck with their plans to end most library services, they have been working for the past several months on a deal with a nonprofit group to keep the building open for access to computers and potential programs.
So far, no deal’s been finalized, but library officials plan to have an update on these efforts during this afternoon’s library board meeting. It starts at 4:15 at the Pulaski County Public Library in Winamac.
