The bid of Covenant Concrete to repair and build several sidewalks in the Town of Hamlet was approved by the Town Board last Wednesday night. The approved projects total about $50,000, half of which must be paid by owners of the property, under the terms and conditions of the town’s 50/50 replacement program.
The improvement of downtown sidewalks and installation of handicap ramps and four new street lights was discussed with Lee Nagai, who is chief proponent of the project. No action was taken.
Town Marshall Frank Lonigro requested that reserve officer Kyle Hines be re-assigned as a part-time officer. The request was approved. The town limits its several part-time officers to a total of no more than 55 hours weekly.
Street Superintendent Fred Rowe reported that steps will be taken to remove residue from the winter “sanding” of streets.
