When U.S. Congresswoman Jackie Walorski’s field representative, Chris Lee, met with the Hamlet Town Board Wednesday evening, it asked for help in getting the unsafe condition of the Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern rail crossing repaired and improved on the north edge of the town.
Town representatives told Lee they have had no action from its requests to the railroad for repairs to be made. The Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern is a short line of 315 miles of rail, offering service between Tolleston, Indiana to Crestline, Ohio, passing through Hamlet.
The Board also discussed the availability of federal grants with Mr. Lee.
