Starke County families with children ages birth through kindergarten are invited to a free educational event at Knox Elementary School. The Block Party will take place Thursday, March 17 from 5 until 6 p.m. in the gymnasium.
Preschool and kindergarten teachers will use block play to aid in the learning of science, math, reading, social and motor skills. Families will learn about the eight stages of block play, which will enhance their child’s learning.
Research indicates 85 percent of a child’s brain is developed by age five. Experts say early education is key to academic achievement in later years. They also note parental involvement is another important ingredient in a child’s educational success.
The free event will feature fun, learning and pizza.
