A potentially life-saving piece of technology will be available for free to Starke County residents. The Starke County Emergency Management Agency is distributing all-hazard weather radios, thanks to help from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.
According to the IDHS, the radios can pick up more than 60 types of emergency alert, including updates directly from the National Weather Service. IDHS Director of Public Information John Erickson says being able to get an early warning gives citizens the chance to take the appropriate action to keep themselves safe.
The weather radios are available while supplies last at the EMA Office in the Starke County Annex Building in Knox. To reserve a weather radio, call the Starke County EMA at 574-772-9182.
