An 18-year-old Knox man is jailed in connection with two separate cases. Officers from the Knox Police Department were called to Kruz, Inc. on Culver Road Thursday night to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Police Chief Harold Smith says officers discovered the vehicle was damaged and determined it had been stolen.
While investigating, the officers found out 18-year-old John Murphy, Jr. of Knox had been in possession of a stolen vehicle matching the description of the one they had just located. Officers found Murphy at his residence, where he was arrested following questioning.
He’s also a suspect in a burglary that happened last week in Knox, according to Smith.
Murphy is jailed on preliminary charges of auto theft, burglary and theft. Formal charges are pending.
