The LaPorte Police Department issued 172 tickets and 86 warnings during its March enforcement campaign. The majority of the citations were for speeding, according to a press release from the LaPorte Police Department.
The 24-day blitz was aimed at cracking down on dangerous and impaired driving. During that period, LaPorte officers worked 90 hours of extra patrols, with more than half of them taking place at night.
The LaPorte Police Department joined with more than 250 law enforcement agencies around the state for the March enforcement campaign, which was supported by federal highway safety funding.
