The Pulaski County Commissioners will reconsider what to do about the K-9 Unit now that the handling officer has decided to accept a job in another county.
The matter was discussed at their previous meeting. Police dogs are often used to locate drugs or missing persons, but training them and their handling officer can carry a hefty price tag.
The commissioners considered options such as selling the K-9 unit to the handling officer or keeping the animal and retraining it with a new officer. Either direction will incur expenses at the Sheriff’s Department.
This evening’s Commissioners meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Pulaski County Courthouse.
