A 17-year-old in LaPorte County is facing multiple charges after he was caught allegedly peeking into neighborhood windows.
The arrest was made as the result of an ongoing investigation in the Weatherstone Village neighborhood, but a bit of happenstance may have closed the case. Officers added extra patrols in the area while the case was being scrutinized.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department received a call on Monday around 11:30 p.m. to a report of a suspicious individual. A local homeowner played video surveillance footage of the incident providing a suspect description.
Investigators searched the area, but were not able to be locate any persons of interest in the immediate area. Around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, officers were called to the area again to a report of a suspicious individual knocking on a door. At the same time, another call was received by a resident claiming their 17-year-old son had not returned home for the night.
Officers noted in their report that the 17-year-old matched the description of the suspect in the voyeurism cases. The name of the suspect is being withheld due to their status as a minor. They are, however, facing charges of Voyeurism, Trespass, and a Curfew Violation.
The suspect was booked into the Marshall County Juvenile Services Center.
