Presidential candidate Ted Cruz appeared in Winamac this weekend, but the safety of his visit was assisted by local law enforcement.
Cruz stopped by Cruizers in Winamac leading up to Tuesday’s May 3rd primary election as part of his weekend campaign appearances in the Hoosier state. The Republican candidate took the opportunity to meet with local residents prior to a stop in LaPorte for a more formal campaign gathering.
Campaigns and the secret service often coordinate with local law enforcement to help provide security prior to a political figure’s campaign appearances.
According to a press release, employees with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department and the Winamac Police Department provided assistance at the site to ensure security in the 100 block of South Monticello Street.
