Pulaski County residents with an American flag that is a bit worn will have an opportunity to dispose of the flag during a ceremony this weekend in Winamac.
The Winamac VFW says they will be taking part in the time honored tradition of burning the American flag as a way to lay the colors to rest. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. EST on Saturday, but is intended to dispose of the American flag in a way members of the VFW find respectful.
According to information provided by the VFW Post in Winamac, a 21 gun salute and the Pledge of Allegiance take place during the gathering. Local residents with dated flags are asked to bring their colors for disposal, or simply drop it off beforehand.
