BraunAbility is partnering with another company on a research project they hope will improve the lives of the disabled.
According to a press release, the Winamac-based company and Tennessee-based Permobil will work on a project to improve the interface between wheelchairs and wheelchair accessible vehicles. Permobil is considered a leader in power and manual wheel chair manufacturing.
The goal is to improve independence for disabled individuals.
A significant research and engineering process will now begin that both companies hope will lead to breakthrough improvements in mobility.
Both BraunAbility and Permobil are owned by the Investor AB group out of Sweden. A particular product invention has not been disclosed at this time. Instead, the companies say they will begin with customer research to better understand what is needed before beginning product development plans.
