The North Judson-San Pierre School Board has a new member. The Rich Grove Township Advisory Board recently appointed Derrick Stalbaum to a four-year term. He replaces Larry Lambert, who has served 16 years on the board.
Stalbaum is a N.J.-S.P. graduate and currently teaches in the Rensselaer School Corporation. Lambert spoke during the public comments portion of the meeting and said Stalbaum will be an asset to the school board.
“He’s an educator. He’s young. He’s got the energy to for the job and sounds like just what we need for the board, because we’ve got a lot of challenges ahead. He’ll be a good member,” Lambert said.
Stalbaum was sworn in during yesterday’s brief reorganizational session meeting. Officers elected for 2016-17 are President Pat Goin, Vice President Mike Shireman and Secretary Jim Menis.
The board also reappointed Guy Richie as business manager, purchasing agent and treasurer for the corporation. Marsha Volk Bugalla of law firm Frost Brown Todd was reappointed as the board’s attorney.
The N.J.-S.P. Board of Finance will consist of Goin, Shireman and Menis, as they are the officers of the board. Negotiation team appointments were deferred at the suggestion of Superintendent Dr. Annette Zupin, as contract negotiations are ongoing.
Menis and Mike Sharkozy were named to the bid opening committee, as both are within a close proximity to the central office should quick action be necessary. Each board member will be paid $1,500 per year for their service, as has been the standard for the past few years.
The North Judson-San Pierre School Board’s monthly meetings will continue to take place the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the central office meeting room. The next regular board meeting will be July 19th.
