The Town of Winamac is getting some help with its ash tree removal efforts. Town Manager Brad Zellers told the town council Monday that INDOT has agreed to cooperate with the town on the removal of 11 trees along the highways that pass through town. “It looks like what we may end up getting out of that, hopefully, they’ll bring some trucks, the loader,” he said. “We will have to hire somebody to actually cut the trees, but they will clean the mess up.” INDOT will also handle traffic control, while Winamac will have to provide a place to dump the debris.
During Monday’s meeting, Zellers also told the council that preparation work was underway at the north end of the Town Parking Lot for the installation of an ADA-compliant ramp. He said the work will be covered by grant funding the town received for the Winamac Parkway. The town has also been in contact with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources about safety upgrades where the Parkway intersects State Road 14.
