In preparation for the 2016-17 school year, teachers in the Knox Community School System have recently been training on a learning management system called “Canvas.”
It was explained to the school board when they met Monday night.
Canvas will allow parent sand students to communicate with teachers on a more timely and comprehensive basis. It allows teachers to provide instructional support, class calendars and more online.
Superintendent A.J. Gappa commented that Canvas will increase communication between parents and teachers and teachers with other teachers to ensure a better learning product.
In Canvas students can use their course syllabus and assignments, check grades, turn in assignments and interact with their instructor and other students.
“Canvas is just one more tool to bring everyone closer to what is happening in the classroom,” Gappa said.
Upgrades to the school’s Apple computer system have also been presented during this week’s training session.
