Resident Tips Lead to Drug Trafficking Arrests in LaPorte

LaPorte County authorities are announcing a drug bust that resulted in three arrests.

For some time, investigators had received complaints that a home in the 500 block of Rockwood Street in LaPorte was being used as a point of sale for narcotics. In response to the complaints, surveillance was conducted on the property.

This wouldn’t be the first time the property had been linked to alleged drug traffic. The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department says they’ve made arrests at the site before, including an investigation into an overdose at the home.

Surveillance led to the tip that a suspect was expected to arrive at the property for narcotics transport on Thursday, August 25th. Around 5:30 p.m. the suspect vehicle allegedly arrived and a traffic stop was conducted.

At that same time, a search warrant was executed, and an Emergency Response Team forced their way into the residence. LaPorte County is not disclosing how much cocaine and heroin was seized at this time.

26-year-old Ladon Cameron of Chicago was arrested and charged with two felony counts of Dealing Cocaine and Dealing a Narcotic Drug. He was booked into the LaPorte County Jail on $2000 bond.

Two LaPorte County residents were also charged in the sting, including 34-year-old Ashley Selvidge and 52-year-old Joe Szynal. They were both charged with felony counts of Dealing Narcotics.
