The Starke County Commissioners will meet in special session this evening to take care of a couple of time-sensitive items. Another extension of the lease between the county and operators of Starke Hospital is required in order to finalize a new agreement between the entities. Doing so will clear the way for construction of a new hospital on the existing county-owned land. The lease under which they are presently operating expires Aug. 31st. A final agreement is said to be a few weeks away.
The commissioners will also discuss the renewal of the county’s insurance during their 6:30 p.m. meeting. It will take place in the meeting room at the annex building.
