A crash in LaPorte County Tuesday morning has claimed a life.
Three vehicles were involved in the incident – which occurred in the 6200 E. block of U.S. 20 around 7:00 a.m. Investigators say that a black Volkswagen Jetta was traveling eastbound on the highway when it allegedly crossed the center line. Officers say the Tahoe flipped once, clearing the way for the Jetta to hit a second Chevrolet Truck traveling behind the Tahoe head-on.
The driver of the Jetta, identified as 50-year-old Lawrence Williams of LaPorte had to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders. He was found to be in cardiac arrest at the scne. He was taken to LaPorte Hospital and was pronounced dead around 8:30 a.m.
The other two drivers received non-life threatening injuries or did not require medical attention.
Toxicology results are pending on the deceased driver, an investigation into the nature of the crash continues.
