LaPorte City Police made four drug-related arrests over the weekend.
The first occurred Friday night, when officers took Robin Wade, 36, into custody at his LaPorte home. He was wanted on warrants for five counts of dealing a narcotic drug, a Level 5 felony.
Then on Sunday night, officers with the LaPorte City Police Drug and Crime Reduction Strike Force arrested Lori Kessler, 47, of LaPorte, following a traffic stop. Kessler was the passenger in a Chevrolet Lumina that officers stopped for a traffic violation, according to police. They verified that she was wanted on a warrant for possession of paraphernalia, which is a Class C misdemeanor.
Another traffic stop Sunday night led to two more arrests. Strike Force Officers pulled over an Oldsmobile driven by Kamil Shelton, 39, of LaPorte, near the intersection of Lincolnway and Linwood Avenue, for several traffic violations. Police say Shelton was unable to provide registration for the vehicle and told officers his license was expired.
A LaPorte Police K-9 indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Police found a clear plastic bag containing green powder on Shelton’s person, which officers say tested positive for fentanyl.
A passenger in the vehicle, Misty Lindsey, 33, of LaPorte was found to be in possession of cocaine, according to police. They say they also found drug paraphernalia where she was sitting.
Officers charged Shelton with possession of a schedule two narcotic drug, a Level 6 felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a synthetic or look-a-like drug and possession of marijuana. Meanwhile, Lindsey was charged with possession of cocaine, a Level 6 felony, as well as possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
All four suspects were taken to the LaPorte County Jail, with court appearances set for this week.
