FFA members at North Judson-San Pierre High School are working to earn their way to the upcoming national convention. It will take place Oct. 19-22 in Indianapolis, which is the week of fall break.
FFA sponsor Emily DuVall says the chapter funds the entire $3,200 cost of sending 14 students to the annual gathering. Last year they took 8th grade members as well, which depleted much of their budget.
She says FFA members are selling pork chop tickets for pickup on Saturday, Oct. 8th at Liberty Field during the 7th and 8th grade and JV football games. They are also doing a 50/50 drawing that day. Additionally, N.J.-S.P. FFA members will be selling pumpkins during the Autumn Leaves Festival to raise money for the trip.
The school board Tuesday evening approved the trip unanimously.
