Winamac residents will have the chance to offer their ideas about the future of the town’s park and recreation facilities. The Winamac Park Board is hosting a public input session on Wednesday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the Winamac Municipal Utility Complex.
The town’s currently in the process of putting together a five-year parks and recreation plan. Katie Bierrum, who’s putting the plan together for the town, says public input is a big part of that. “It is a highly valued part of it,” she told the park board last week. “They want to see that you’re making a good effort at getting a sizable portion of the community’s opinions.” Having a plan is necessary for Winamac to be able to receive grant funding for projects, such as its pool rebuilding effort.
A survey will soon be available online and in the Pulaski County Journal, to give residents another way to offer ideas. At this point, Bierrum has gotten input from park board members for the plan. She’s also working on gathering demographic data.
