The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department will be testing its emergency alert systems this week.
On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Department says the sirens will be sounded as part of a tornado drill. The drill is part of required testing activity in the state.
Pulaski County has sirens located in Francesville, Medaryville, Monterey, and Winamac.
The tests take place regularly on the third Tuesday of every month unless there is a potential for severe weather in the immediate area on the scheduled testing day.
The Sheriff’s Department says the tests are a good time to understand safety skills in the instance a tornado moves through the area. Hiding in a basement, an inside hallway, or an interior bathroom are considered prime spots to reduce injuries and increase safety during severe weather.
Tests will take place at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
