The Culver Town Council is preparing to assemble grant applications that could provide upgrades to town park facilities.

Projects in the town park have been a major focus for Culver for some time. The community has relied on grants to help make some of the renovation work possible. Those discussions continued during Tuesday night’s town council meeting, where specifics of funding the work were discussed.

Culver recently received a grant for work to the west pavilion through the Marshall County Community Foundation. Town Manager Jonathan Leist says they’ll continue those efforts.

“We also discussed applying for a couple different grants for the building in 2017 and for the grounds as well,” says Leist.

Specifically, the town government will consider applying for another MCCF grant and an Office of Community and Rural Affairs Place Based Investment Fund Grant for building a proposed amphitheatre.

Architects with Mosaic Building Solutions have been working on the design plans for some time. Estimates for the project cost will ultimately determine whether the project receives town council approval.

Leist says the work has been ongoing.

“It’s one of the things that was in the plan that our architect has been working on through a planning grant for the park,” says Leist.

Deadline for the community foundation grant is February. The OCRA grant deadline is also early spring/late winter.

The Town Council did not take further action on Tuesday night.
