The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in at a storage lot facility on Johnson Road in LaPorte. They believe the break-in at Waterford Storage happened sometime after dark Sunday and before daybreak Monday morning.
A total of 38 units were entered, according to sheriff’s department officials. They believe it’s the work of at least two people.
Sheriff’s deputies are working with the owner of the facility as they notify the customers that rent the units. After all the customers have been notified the sheriff’s department will be able to generate a list of items that may have been stolen.
Anyone who may have seen something suspicious around Waterford Storage or knows who may be responsible for the break-in is asked to call the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department at 219-326-7700.
Owners of storage facilities and their customers are also encouraged to be vigilant and report anything suspicious. Additionally patrol deputies have been instructed to increase patrols in and around storage facilities within their districts.
