A vehicle reported stolen in September has been recovered by the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office. Officers say a red Mercury Monterey, believed to be an early 1960s model, was found abandoned in a rural area south of New Buffalo, Michigan.
They add that the antique car appeared to be in good condition, but the ignition was compromised and the vehicle identification number has been removed. The Sheriff’s Office has since learned that the car had been reported stolen to the Chikaming Township Michigan Police on September 2. Officers there said the car was for sale and parked in front of a business when it was reported stolen.
However, the trailer it was sitting on still hasn’t been found.
