The Starke County Park Board is expected to get an update on the creation of a five-year plan for the county’s park facilities. Having a plan in place would make the county eligible for grant funding from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Up until recently, the process of creating a plan has moved slowly, but the Starke County Commissioners’ appropriation of up to $15,000 for the effort has allowed it to move ahead. The County Park Board has been working over the past few months with the Kankakee-Iroquois Regional Planning Commission to find a planning consultant. However, a draft of the plan needs to be created and submitted to the DNR by January 15, for the county to be eligible for 2017 DNR grants.
Tonight’s Starke County Park Board meeting begins at 6:00 in the Starke County Annex Building.
