The extension of the Winamac Parkway through the downtown area has put a limit on parking in the town lot at the corner of Main and Logan Streets. This week the Winamac Town Council discussed asking those who park trailers there to put them somewhere else, but did not take any formal action. They also mentioned the various vehicles owned and operated by Pulaski County Human Services and asked whether they can be moved north of the Head Start playground. Again, no formal action was taken, and council members noted those vehicles are moved regularly.
Town Manager Brad Zellers says lines will be painted on the lot this spring, which should help with parking as well. Also this spring the green spur from the trail to Eastern Pulaski Schools will be repainted.
The council also briefly discussed the possible acquisition of the train depot, which the park board is considering. Town Council President Tommy Murray noted the council still has the final say on the park board’s recommendation.
