It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Starke County, with several holiday happenings scheduled this weekend. Festivities get underway tonight in North Judson with the lighting of the town’s Christmas Tree at Norwayne Field. Santa will be on hand for the 6 p.m. community celebration. Children can visit with him at the top of the hill by the fireplace, and cookies and cocoa will also be served.
Santa will also be part of the triumphant return of the Peppermint Parade to downtown Knox tomorrow. The longtime holiday tradition is back for the first time in more than two decades. It will step off at 2 p.m. as Santa makes his way through town to Wythogan Park, where he will visit with all of the children in the community.
Hot cocoa, cider and s’mores will be served, and horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered as part of the festivities. At 5 p.m. the City of Knox Christmas Tree will be lit at the park next to the Santa House.
Santa Claus will also be in Knox for the next two weekends to visit with youngsters at the park. Stop and see him from noon until 3 p.m. on Dec. 10th and 17th at his house in the park.
