Knox residents are in the holiday spirit, based on the number of homes decorated for the holidays as part of the city’s annual Christmas decorating contest.
The first-place, $100 prize winner is Gene and Mary Ann Wheeler at 423 Carlson Drive. Second place honors and a $50 prize go to Vonda Butler at 211 Allen Drive. The third place winner is Tom Parkinson at 427 Carlson Drive. His prize is $25.
The judges also awarded several honorable mentions. Winners, in no particular order, are: Jennifer Hill, 203 S. Heaton; Cody Cross, 424 Star Street; Greg and LuAnn Matt, 154 W. New York St.; Dan Allen, 1002 Pacific; and Myrtle Gabbart, Golden Acres Apt. 12.
The committee also bestowed special recognition honors on Allen Drive, where several residents did a fabulous job of decorating their homes for the holiday season. The judges noted a lot of time and effort went into lighting up their block with the holiday spirit.
