The Oregon-Davis School Corporation plans to adjust its curriculum to help boost students’ test scores. Superintendent Don Harman says school improvement plans were approved by the school board Monday.
He says teachers are putting together curriculum maps that are designed to improve test scores in English and Math. “We’re creating curriculum maps that are K-through-12, so we have a vertical articulation,” he says, “and that will help because we need to have a rigorous, viable curriculum to impact our English and our Math scores.”
To help with that process, the school corporation has hired Equitable Education Solutions, using a portion of the $50,000 grant received through the School Developmental Network. “Again, the key will be, it’ll be a K-through-12 curriculum,” he says. “We’ll have vertical articulation. We have collaboration with our teachers to create that curriculum. And then once we’ve built that curriculum, then we can look into the assessment piece.”
The school board approved a contract with Equitable Education Solutions Monday, for their help with developing a curriculum, as well as a strategic plan.
