Pulaski County is updating its unified development ordinance. The county commissioners approved an amended ordinance Monday.
Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer said it also includes some changes to the county’s zoning map. “These changes are being made either A, just to clean up some things that needed to be cleaned up;” he said, “B, we saw some places where there could be some increased flexibility, especially with uses in agricultural land; and C, most of all, because Winamac just agreed to adopt this ordinance as their own, effective the first of the year, to make that transition a little easier, because they have residential districts that they actually use that we had that didn’t use.”
Along with those updates, the commissioners also approved part of an updated permit fee schedule. Origer said it cuts in half the fees payed to members of plan commission and board of zoning appeals. Meanwhile, some fees were added for various permits requiring work from the county’s building inspector. Origer said that non-residential building permit fees will stay the same for now, until he has a chance to finish reviewing them with the county’s Building Department.
The approved changes take effect January 1. The updated unified zoning ordinance and fee schedule can by found on Pulaski County’s website.
