Pulaski County is moving ahead with plans to reduce the speed limit on a portion of County Road 250 North. The county commissioners voted Monday to lower the speed limit to 45 miles per hour between 125 East and 350 North.
Earlier this month, residents complained about the lack of a posted limit, considering the amount of traffic and the number of driveways. Commissioner Terry Young said he asked Community Development Commission Executive Director Nathan Origer how that area fits into the county’s new unified development ordinance. “I talked with Nathan with the rezoning and everything, and it is residential,” Young said. “And we can’t have 55 miles an hour through residential.”
While the road is a major route for traffic heading to Monterey, more and more homes are being added. The proposed speed limit now goes to the county council for final approval in January.
