A LaPorte County woman was the victim of a strong arm robbery Sunday afternoon. Police in Trail Creek were notified at 3:50 p.m. of the incident in the 2100 block of Red Oak Drive. The resident, an 88-year-old woman, says two white men talked their way into her home by offering to clear her driveway and spread salt and saying they were cold.
While one suspect distracted the woman, the other reportedly went into a bedroom, stole a jewelry box and silver coins. The woman was not injured. After the men left she called a relative, who notified the police.
The suspects are described as younger white men. One is about 5’8” and the other is a little shorter. They were driving a white truck with a silver tool box in the bed and left the area in an unknown direction of travel.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Trail Creek Police at 219-879-8173.
