A wind chill advisory is in effect through noon EST/11 a.m. CST Monday, Dec. 19 for our entire listening area.
Wind chills of between 15 and 25 below zero are expected & can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. People who venture outdoors should dress in layers and cover all exposed skin to avoid frostbite.
Hypothermia can also occur when temperatures are this cold. That’s when the body loses heat faster than it can be produced. Symptoms include intense shivering, slurred speech, drowsiness and loss of coordination.
