A fast-food restaurant in LaPorte was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning, and police there are seeking the public’s help to make an arrest.
Officers responded to the Burger King at 1434 E. Lincolnway around 1:20 a.m. Saturday and were told the drive-thru cashier had been pistol whipped by the suspect.
The report indicates an older-model, light gold colored, 4-door sedan ordered a meal at the drive-thru box. When the driver pulled up to the window, he reportedly displayed a handgun and told the cashier to give him all the money in the register. The suspect then struck the female employee in the head with the weapon, after which she emptied the register and gave the money to the man.
He was white with a thin build and was wearing a dark hoodie, stocking cap, gloves and scarf which obscured part of his face. The suspect left the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen heading east on State Road 2.
LaPorte Police say the victim complained of head pain but refused medical treatment.
