Manslaughter Charge Filed Against Hamlet Man

A Hamlet man is charged with involuntary manslaughter and other charges in Pulaski County in connection with a single-vehicle accident that claimed a life.

It happened on Sept. 25, 2016 on State Road 39 at County Road 100 South in Pulaski County. Court documents indicate a car driven by 23-year-old Corey W. Clemmons of Hamlet left the roadway. He got out of the vehicle, but his passenger, 23-year-old Joseph Nathan Becker, was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Pulaski County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Crystal Brucker Kocher filed charges of causing death while operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol level of more than .15, involuntary manslaughter, reckless homicide and causing death while operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol level of more than .08 against Clemmons on Feb. 16. All four charges are felonies.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department, Pulaski County Coroner’s Office and Indiana State Police all investigated the crash.
