Oregon-Davis High School is trying to put an end to cell phone use during the school day.
Superintendent Don Harman says there have been a few issues with the inappropriate use of phones and social media. “The high school administration had concerns with students using cell phones throughout the school day, during passing periods, during lunch,” he says.
The school board responded Monday by approving a revised cell phone policy for the student handbook. “What the policy is now going to state is that cell phones are not to be operated during the school day,” Harman explains, “and if cell phones are used, then they will be confiscated and then returned to either the student at the end of the day or the parent at the end of the day.”
Harman adds school administrators will be contacting parents about the new policy. They will also discuss it with students during a school-wide convocation.
