The Starke County Council will conduct a public hearing on a couple of tax rates when they meet this evening. They’re required to seek input on the cumulative capital development and cumulative bridge funds. The hearings are the first item on the agenda for their 5:30 p.m. meeting.
County Highway Superintendent Rik Ritzler will also talk to the council about the road funding proposals under consideration in Indianapolis, and County Clerk Vicki Cooley will ask for a pay raise for an hourly employee. Sheriff Bill Dulin is also on the council agenda to formally request appropriations from the Jail CEDIT and Therapeutic Community Funds.
The council meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the annex building meeting room, and will be followed by a Starke County Commissioners meeting. Ritzler will discuss a proposed heavy truck ordinance with them and will also have quotes for a tractor purchase. The commissioners will also choose a consultant for an upcoming bridge project.
IT Director Brian Pinson and Carrie Block from 1st Choice Insurance will talk to the commissioners about cyber insurance, and the commissioners will make the remaining appointments to the convention and visitors commission board.
