Winamac Park Board Adopts Five-Year Plan

Entrance to the Winamac Town Park

The Winamac Park Board is a step closer to qualifying for state grant funds. Last night members approved a five-year parks and recreation plan for the town. The most immediate priorities include installing a new swimming pool and relocating the Winamac Town Park restrooms.

Restoring the octagon building in the park is listed as a goal for 2018. Bringing the children’s playground in the park into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act is listed as a 2019 priority in the plan. Upgrading and possibly relocating the basketball courts is on the drawing board for 2020. The final priority in the five-year plan is creating a west park gateway entrance on Main Street east of Frain Mortuary in 2021.

The priorities are based on needs identified during two listening sessions and 62 survey responses.

The Winamac Park Board will be eligible for state grants to fulfill these priorities now that a five-year plan has been adopted.
