DeMotte State Bank is celebrating 100 years in business this year, and on Monday the company was honored by Governor Eric Holcomb. During a ceremony at the Statehouse, Holcomb recognized 34 Indiana businesses with the Governor’s Century or Half Century Business Award.
According to information released by the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the bank has grown to 11 offices in Jasper, Lake, Newton, Porter, and Starke counties with nearly $400 million in assets.
To qualify for the Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards, businesses have to have been in operation for at least 100 or 50 consecutive years and have demonstrated a commitment to community service. Area companies honored with the Half Century award include Chester Inc. in Porter County and Tic Toc Trophy Shop in Fulton County.
