The Eastern Pulaski School Board wants the construction company that oversaw the recent building renovation project to sharpen its pencil before taking on additional work at the schools. Gibralter Construction quoted the corporation $67,000 to oversee the $1.5 million worth of additional projects under consideration.
The board is looking at redoing the parking lots and some of the sidewalks with money left over from the large-scale renovations. Superintendent Dan Foster says the corporation will need help to ensure a proper bidding process is carried out and work is done to specifications. He notes Gibralter is familiar with the campus.
The board authorized Foster to move forward with negotiations and try to get a better price for the proposed work.
Board members also accepted a quote of $106,000 from Logansport-based Fissel Electric for LED lighting upgrades. The investment is expected to save the corporation 20 percent annually on utility bills.
