Water rates will soon be going up for Hamlet residents. The Hamlet Town Council approved updates to the town’s water rate ordinance Wednesday.
The new monthly rate is $5.43 per 1,000 gallons for up to 5,000 gallons, going down to $2.17 for over 15,000 gallons. Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts says the new rates will likely take effect on the bill due May 10.
