The Pulaski County Historical Society will once again be screening a classic silent movie at the Vurpillat Opera House in Downtown Winamac. Cecil B. DeMille’s 1927 film “King of Kings” will be shown on Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m.
The movie focuses on the days leading up to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, according to the historical society. It’s the second of three biblical films DeMille made in the 1920s and ’30s, along with “The Ten Commandments” and “The Sign of the Cross.”
“King of Kings” runs just under two hours. The film is in black and white, with some color sequences. Admission to the event is free, but the Pulaski County Historical Society will accept donations. Concessions will be available.
Next week’s silent film screening will be the second one sponsored by the Pulaski County Historical Society this year. The historical society says it’s planning more in the coming months.
