Preparations are underway for the retirement of Pulaski Superior Court Judge Patrick Blankenship.
Circuit Court Judge Michael Shurn presented the county council with a court order Monday that explains the process. “So essentially, the applications are still open for Superior Court until April 24,” Shurn said. “The Supreme Court will not let a court sit vacant, so on day one, they’ll have somebody in there. So that order basically says they’re transferring me to Superior Court, so I get to do both courts. And then they’re going to provide a senior judge for x number of days, as needed.”
Blankenship’s retirement will take effect April 3. The temporary arrangements will continue until the Indiana Governor’s Office appoints a replacement.
