A sure sign of spring is the annual opening of the Melody Drive-In Theater at Bass Lake. This is opening weekend, with movies on both screens tonight, tomorrow and Sunday. Screen one features “Smurfs the Lost Village” and “The Shack.” Screen two will have “Kong Skull Island” and “Logan.”
In addition to movies, favorites like bread sticks, popcorn and burgers will be available in the concession stand.
Owner Fred Heise says the kids packs in will vary based on the summer movie line up. This weekend’s offering will tie in with the new Smurfs movie.
In addition to movies, Heise says the Bass Lake Lions Club is having their annual Easter egg hunt Saturday morning at the drive-in. It’s open to children from birth to age 12 and will get under way with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
Right now the Melody Drive-In Theater is only open Friday through Sunday evenings. Heise says they will go to a seven day a week schedule after school is out. Visit https://www.facebook.com/melody.drivein/ for more information.
