Motorists traveling through Wanatah on U.S. 30 will experience delays for the next several weeks. INDOT crews will remove the old asphalt at the intersection of U.S. 421 and U.S. 30 a lane at a time and replace it all with concrete. The work is part of an intersection restoration project.
U.S. 30 will remain open to all through traffic but will be restricted to one lane in each direction. Motorists traveling east and west should expect periodic delays and allow extra time for trips through the area. Pay close attention to the signs in the work zone, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
U.S. 421 will be closed in both directions. State road detours must be along state-maintained highways. Northbound drivers will take State Road 8 to State Road 39 to U.S. 6 and back to U.S. 421. Southbound drivers will take U.S. 6 to State Road 39 to State Road 8.
Drivers can monitor road closures and traffic alerts at any time via the INDOT Northwest District social media channels: www.Facebook.com/INDOTNorthwest or Twitter @INDOTNorthwest. Or visit http://www.trafficwise.in.gov for INDOT’s TrafficWise Traveler Information Service.
